Critical Care
Experience Next Level Critical Care
At Westchester Medical Center Critical Care Tower, critical care is in our DNA, and you will not find another more skilled or highly trained team. Our renowned critical care nurses, physicians, and staff work together to ensure Hudson Valley patients get the best possible care. With the construction of the new Critical Care Tower, these experts can provide even more stellar care and prevent overflow issues like with the COVID-19 pandemic.
In- and Out-of-Network Medical Transfers
Over the past five years, we have seen medical transfers rise. Since we are Hudson Valley's only Level 1 trauma center for children and adults, we need more room to handle these patients. The new Critical Care Tower will allow us to accomplish this. Below is a closer look at how this will help us make improvements:
- Between 2017-2022 transfers from other hospitals to WMC increased by 45 percent.
- In 2022, we surpassed 12,000 transfers, our highest total ever.
- Total Trauma and critical care transfers increased by 40 percent.
- Total Neuroscience transfers increased by 53 percent.
Make a Difference
“The collective gifts of our community will provide you, your family and patients of all ages access to the best advanced and critical care available, right here at home.”– Navy Djonovic, Chair, Westchester Medical Center Foundation
A Better Patient Experience
When focusing on the design of our Critical Care Tower, we kept one question at the forefront of the process: “What does the patient want and need?” Every floor of the facility blends the creative and the clinical, featuring modern architecture, innovative technologies, and an inclusive design for a stress-free experience for patients and staff. We want to create a healing atmosphere of valuing our patient’s well-being as much as physical health. These thought processes ensure our caring and knowledgeable staff maintains their spot as critical care leaders in the Hudson Valley area.
